The standard GO Transit uniform in 1967 was a Canadian
National Railways standard charcoal grey, complimented by a distinctive GO Transit badge (see below). The cap, as shown, was a similar CNR Trainman's cap but with the green band.
While on duty, Conductors and Trainmen were required to be neat and clean in appearance at all times; dressed in regulation uniform properly buttoned, pressed and brushed; wearing a clean white shirt with the prescribed tie and black shoes that had to be sharply polished. Conductors and Trainmen had to be clean shaven with no facial hair permitted in any way while on duty. There was a no smoking enforced rule away from passengers and platforms. A black vest could be woren but must not be undone. |

GO Transit provides enforcement personnel once employeed by the Ontario Government. But thanks to harris government cutbacks, they no longer provide funding to any public transit. The Enforcement Branch has shifted saving the goverment a lot of money (providing themselves with a potential 25% raise) but taking away needed funding and protection to the GO Transit patrons. Shame, but typical, and the public just lets harris steam roll over everyone. |
